How to Submit Your site to Search Engines

Getting you website registered in search engines is no easy task. There has been hundreds of books written on the subject, and there is thousands of websites full of articles and new letters on the Internet.

If your website has been designed by Globegate, then it would have been designed to be 'Search Engine Friendly'. This means that within the programming code of the website, there would be keywords and descriptions of your site, which the search engines use to register your sites. Globegate would have initially submitted your website to all of the major search engines and web directories. But, if you want to gain a good position in the search engines, it is vital that you regularly submit your site to as many search engines as possible.

There are several different methods of submitting your website to the search engines. The first is to go to each Search Engine home page, and look for a link to 'Add a URL' or 'Submit your site' etc. You then have to enter in your domain name e.g.. www.yourname.com and then you click on a button to submit your site. Each Search engine works in a different way, and some ask for slightly different details.

The second method is to go to a website which will submit your site to lots of different search engines simultaneously for free. You can find links to a few of the best Website Submission sites on our Links page. This is the easiest (and quickest) way of getting your website registered in search engines.

There are also alot of websites which charge a fee and they will submit your site to hundreds (sometimes thousands) of search engines and web directories for you. We recommend using www.submit4u.co.uk.
